The rumor mill is moving at a rapid pace ahead of the summer transfer window closing at the middle of the week. It closes on Wednesday in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. In England, it ends Thursday. Let’s take a look at six potential moves to keep an eye on as teams finalize their rosters until the winter break.
Real Madrid’s star to Chelsea, Juventus?
Real Madrid’s Colombian attacker James Rodriguez could be on the move despite playing in his team’s 2-1 win against Celta Vigo on Saturday. The unsettled star has been linked to Chelsea, Juventus and PSG for much of the summer as he looks for a spot to earn consistent playing time. He is quality with the ball and can really kick-start any team’s attack but his price tag (around $70 million) may scare some suitors away. AS has reported that he has been house hunting in Turin where Juventus is based, so we’ll see what happens.
Prediction: James stays in Real for now. Maybe he moves in January.
Valencia’s Paco Alcacer to Barcelona
After unloading midfielder Andre Gomes to Barcelona, another Valencia star looks set to wear the famous Blaugrana shirt. Young striker Paco Alcacer has requested a move away from the club and looks set to finalize a move to Barcelona early this week. He will likely be the first choice in attack off the bench for the Catalan club. Sport says the deal is done, and the belief in Spain is that he already has two feet out of Mestalla.
Prediction: Yes, barring something crazy.
Young Brazilian superstar to Inter Milan
Gabriel Barbosa, the 19-year-old Brazilian sensation out of Santos who performed well in the Rio Olympics, has agreed to a deal with Inter Milan. The club even tweeted out images of him arriving to Milan though they didn’t make an official announcement. That is expected early in the week. A strong, quick and lethal attacker, Gabigol could be the man in attack for Inter if Mauro Icardi moves.
Prediction: He already has one foot out of the door at Santos.
Christian Pulisic to leave Dortmund?
The 17-year-old American has been linked to Liverpool and Stoke City among other clubs. But a move just doesn’t make sense right now. He is in a fine situation and has a chance to grow into a star in Germany.
Prediction: Maybe a loan move, but I think he stays at Dortmund.
Joe Hart in demand
Hart likely made his last trip to the Etihad as a member of Man. City on Sunday. He’s been linked to Liverpool the most lately, while Everton is also rumored to be after him. With Claudio Bravo signing with City, he needs to play if he wants to be England’s No. 1. Simon Mignolet hasn’t cut it for the Reds in goal, so a move for Hart makes a lot of sense.
Prediction: Yes, he’ll move. But don’t be surprised if it isn’t Liverpool.
Isco to Tottenham?
The Mirror is reporting that Tottenham is looking to secure a season-long loan for Real Madrid midfielder Isco, which would be a great move. The former Valencia and Malaga man has loads of talent and could be dynamite with the Spurs, teaming up with Christian Eriksen. Him moving may depend on if James moves.
Prediction: Isco is staying put at Real.
