On Sunday we did not see the typical Barcelona performance we are so often accustomed to seeing. Though Barca dominated possession against Athletic Bilbao, the scoring boots went missing. The Catalan giants still managed to win 1-0, thanks to Ivan Rakitic’s header. Barca dominated possession but just couldn’t find the net, and this missed chance in the dying seconds of the game from Luis Suarez sums up the night. Watching the video below, you’ll notice Lionel Messi teasing the Bilbao back line before setting up the Uruguayan. Keep in mind, Suarez scored three last week in the 6-2 season-opening win against Real Betis. However, on Sunday he missed from point-blank range.

Harder to miss than to make, really. But hey, if an ‘off’ day for Barcelona means a 1-0 win, they will surely take it. But maybe this is a common thing for Suarez?

Still, like we mentioned before, when No. 9 has the ball he usually scores from anywhere on the field.

By the way, the next time Messi and Suarez take the field, it’ll be against each other. Argentina plays Uruguay in South American World Cup qualifying on Thursday.
