The NFL regular season is just more than a week away, but much of the talk right now has nothing to do with football.
Instead it concerns 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has caused quite a debate by announcing that he will not stand for the national anthem before games as a form of protest, saying, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
Many high profile figures, including fellow NFL players, have given their opinions on the issue. One of the most aggressive reactions came from NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, who does not appreciate Kaepernick’s stance.

Foster suggested that Stewart should reach out to Kaepernick rather than calling him names like “dumbass” and “idiot” via social media.
It’s certainly been a mixed reaction for Kaepernick over the past few days, and we’ll see if it continues to be an issue once the season starts.
