For Dwight Howard, every trip to the free-throw line is an adventure. And not in a good way.

Infamously known as one of the worst free-throw shooters in the league, Howard has struggled at the line for the majority of his career. Last season was especially rough for Howard, as he shot a career-low 48.9 percent from the line.

But Howard is now a member of his hometown Hawks, and perhaps some home cooking can help alleviate his free-throw woes.

Howard, as he seems to do every summer, is determined to become a better free-throw shooter. This offseason, he is taking 19-footers to improve his accuracy from the line. His hope is that muscle memory-wise, making long jumpers now will translate into his free-throw shooting.

This is an interesting training strategy, and in theory could work. But if it doesn’t, Howard should just fall back on the one tactic that did work — singing Beyonce at the free-throw line.
