For as entertaining as he is on the field — extremely — Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski might be even more fun away from football. As he wrote in his own book, “I’m no Boy Scout, I’m a Gronk.”

Yet Gronkowski recently accepted an award often associated with Boy Scouts. On Tuesday, he won the Ron Burton Community Service Award (not to be confused with the Ron Burgundy Community Service Award, which should probably be a thing) and gave a speech at Gillette Stadium.

In that speech, Gronk — not the Boy Scout — came out, delivering perhaps the Most Gronk line ever.

“It’s an honor to accept this award,” Gronk said. “Who would have ever thought that five years ago, when I was on ESPN every weekend drunk, that I’d be accepting this award?”

Gronk’s not lying. He likes to drink, even if he once hilariously tried to claim the opposite. And, like he said, we have proof. It’s been all over TV and the Internet for years now.

Gronk once hosted a party on an actual cruise ship. He chugged a beer and a bottle of Fireball at the Patriots’ Super Bowl parade. He held a contest to party with him … on a party bus. He’s celebrated at least one birthday in Las Vegas. He once judged a bikini contest named after a beer.

So yeah, Gronk drinks. But he also apparently does good work in the community — like passing out free ice cream.

“Rob is just as fun to watch at a community event as he is on the game field,” said Patriots owner Robert Kraft, per the team’s website. “Giving back to the community is a big part of being ‘Gronk.’ He is engaging with fans of all ages. His gregarious personality makes him one of our greatest ambassadors, especially when spreading cheer to children at local hospitals or schools. We love the devotion and enthusiasm that he shows in the community and are proud to present him with this year’s Ron Burton Community Service Award.”
