In just about 30 seconds of real time and using no game clock, Texas both regained the lead and saw it slip away against Notre Dame on Sunday night.

Notre Dame stormed back from 17 down and put itself on the verge of history before Texas quarterback Shane Buechele got the Longhorns’ offense off the mat and into the end zone. Suddenly trailing 37-35, the Irish got a huge boost from a blocked extra point that the special teams unit returned for a touchdown.

The blocked kick was scooped up by Shaun Crawford and brought back the other way for a two-point score, tying the game at 37.

Making matters worse for Texas, the team was flagged for a sideline interference during Crawford’s return. The penalty pushed Texas back for the ensuing kickoff, giving Notre Dame good field position for its drive to take the lead.
