Already looking like the American flag with their red, blue and white jerseys, the Washington Wizards will show even more nationalistic pride with their new alternate uniforms.
Called their “Stars and Stripes” uniform, the Wizards unveiled the new look on Thursday and announced that they will wear the uniforms in six games next season. Washington’s alternate uniforms look very similar to their normal ones except they have stars and stripes on each side of the jersey and stripes on the shorts as well:
The Wizards will also honor a specific military branch of service for each of the six games they wear their new alternates. Here’s the breakdown:
Fri., Nov. 11 vs Cleveland Cavaliers – National Guard
Wed., Dec. 14 vs Charlotte Hornets – Air Force
Wed., Jan. 18 vs Memphis Grizzlies – Marines
Fri., Feb. 10 vs Indiana Pacers – Army
Wed., Mar. 15 vs Dallas Mavericks – Coast Guard
Tues., Apr. 4 vs Charlotte Hornets – Navy
The NBA has always been supportive of the country’s armed services and several teams like the Wizards have military-themed alternate uniforms to show their support. Washington is just the latest team to do so, which is great to see.
