The happiest person in the country right now just might be Cam Newton‘s dentist.
During the third quarter of the NFL opener in Denver, an NBC camera panned over to Newton, which was normal because that’s what television cameras do. The reason Newton’s dentist was probably excited is because Newton was flossing.
That’s right. During the game, Newton pulled out some floss because who knows what kind of things might get in your teeth during an NFL game.
Predictably, Twitter went nuts, which is exactly what the Panthers expected.
Let’s take a look at some of the tweets that were sent out after Newton cleaned his teeth. Obviously, we have to start with the one below because it’s timely.
Can’t wait til someone disrespects the flag by flossing during the anthem.

Let’s take a look at what everyone else tweeted.
Fittingly, after the Broncos scored a touchdown later in the game, Al Michaels made this call.
Al Michaels: “That was like going to the dentist, from inside the 10-yard line.”

HA HA HA HA, that’s funny. Unfortunately, the real joke here is on Newton because apparently, flossing doesn’t actually work. The Associated Press released a study in August that came to the conlusion that flossing doesn’t actually help you.
Don’t tell that to Newton, though, because it might break his heart.
