LSU will reportedly be without star running back Leonard Fournette for Saturday night’s game against Jacksonville State, according to Bryan Lazare of Tigerbait.com. Ross Dellenger of The Advocate later confirmed the report.

Fournette sustained a bruised ankle late in LSU’s Week 1 loss to Wisconsin. He was previously listed as a game-time decision.

That Fournette wouldn’t be ready for Jacksonville State isn’t all that concerning — the Tigers’ don’t have a passing game to speak of but capable backs to pick up the slack — but that would change if he isn’t ready for Mississippi State in Week 3.

Fournette entered the 2016 as a preseason favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. He had 138 yards against the Badgers.
