The excitement lasted all of three days. Former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler was set to take on Donald Cerrone at UFC 205 in New York after president Dana White confirmed the matchup earlier in the week.

However, that fight is now off of the card, according to and ESPN.

Lawler was pushing White to get back into the octagon as soon as possible after suffering his first loss in over two years. The first-round knockout in July was the first time Lawler had been knocked out since 2004. However, MMAFighting reports that Lawler needed more time to get ready before returning to fighting.

Meanwhile, Cerrone is riding a three-fight win streak and looking to get back into title contention. It is unclear if he will remain on the card or not. The “Cowboy” is coming off a second-round TKO of Rick Story at UFC 202 in August.
