Cespedes, who all but carried the Mets into the postseason last year, hit a grand slam in the third inning of Sunday’s series finale against the Braves at Turner Field. It was Cespedes’ 30th home run and second slam of the season, as well as the fourth slam of his career. The hit also gave Cespedes 78 RBIs, putting him two shy of reaching 80 for the fifth time in his five-year career.
After leaving Cespedes’ bat at 108.6 mph, according to Statcast™, the grand slam rocketed toward left field, where a Turner Field employee caught it with one hand. Statcast™ projected it to land 420 feet away, his eighth-longest homer of the season.
