Dewan Huell, a 2016 McDonald’s All-American who is now enrolled at Miami, was arrested Tuesday for battery, according to a report from the Miami Herald.
“I am aware of the reported incident involving Dewan Huell last night, and we are still gathering information,” Miami athletic director Blake James told the Miami Herald. “I have very high expectations for all of our student-athletes, as I know coach [Jim] Larrañaga does for his team, and any misconduct will be addressed.”
According to a police report obtained by WINZ’s Andy Slater, Huell entered his ex-girlfriend’s dorm room at Florida International University, found her in a closet with another man and attacked the man. He’s accused of grabbing the man by his shirt and dragging him out of the room, which allegedly resulted in scratches to the man’s neck and chest.
Huell was ranked 29th in the 247Sports national composite rankings for the Class of 2016. The 6-foot-11 forward is the highest-rated recruit in a four-person class that ranked 15th nationally.
