As a general rule of thumb, it’s never smart to give your mom the silent treatment. After all, you wouldn’t be here if she didn’t carry you around for nine months.

That being said, there are a few instances where giving your mom the silent treatment makes sense, like when you’re an NFL rookie and she’s not cheering for your team.

Su’a Cravens just happens to be in that exact situation this week. Cravens’ mom is a Cowboys fan, which isn’t ideal for the Redskins rookie because Washington is playing Dallas on Sunday.

Since his mom is cheering for the other team, Cravens has decided he doesn’t want to deal with her this week, so he’s giving her the silent treatment.

This is all came to light on Wednesday when Cravens was asked if he’s familiar with the Redskins-Cowboys rivalry.

“I’m familiar with [the rivalry]. My mom is actually a Cowboys fan, so I won’t be talking to her this week,” Cravens said, via Redskins.com.

Of course, in this day and age, giving your mom the silent treatment means rejecting all her phone calls.

“I haven’t spoken to her. I’m serious, I’m honest,” Cravens said. “She called me this morning. I haven’t spoken to her. I don’t talk to Cowboys fans. She called me and I hit silent.”

Apparently, Cravens doesn’t have any issue with the NFL team that his dad cheers for.

“My dad called me and I was like, ‘Hey, what’s up, Pops?’ She was kind of jealous,” Cravens said of his mom.

Just in case Mrs. Cravens isn’t sure what’ going on and why her phone calls are being rejected, all she needs to do is check Su’a’s Twitter account.
