The Bills are struggling across the board right now, with the offense laying an egg against the Ravens, mustering only 160 yards total. Not a great day for the Bills and as Ryan Wilson pointed out in the ‘TNF’ preview, it’s got Rex Ryan clearly on the hot seat just a week into the season.

Rex needs everyone to show up and show out for this game, including his star wideout Sammy Watkins, who is dealing with the after effects of offseason foot surgery and is under scrutiny for playing (during the week there was chatter from Rex about playing through the pain, which is a not-so-subtle way of calling someone out).

Good news: according to Adam Schefter, Watkins “wants to play and probably will” against the Jets.

Watkins is a key component here, because the Jets’ struggles in the secondary — particularly Darrelle Revis against A.J. Green — open up a tantalizing opportunity for the third-year wide receiver.

It’s also critical to have Watkins on the field because, you know, the Bills need to score some points. They created no offense against the Ravens and now face a potentially more dangerous defense, especially on the defensive line, with Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams helping to sack Andy Dalton seven times in Week 1.

Tyrod Taylor was contained on the ground by the Ravens and Watkins presence will give him more freedom to move about because it opens up the back end of the defense.

The Bills should be amped up about this game because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that shoving Rex Ryan up against a wall and soaking him in revenge makes him a desperate and dangerous man.
