Knee injuries in the NFL are terrifying. And Brandon Marshall suffered one that looked particularly bad on Thursday night in the Jets 37-31 over the Bills.

Going down the field after catching a short, 15-yard pass, Marshall was pulled to the ground by Buffalo cornerback Ronald Darby.

As he went down, his knee bent in a very painful and very unnatural way.

Asked about it afterwards, Marshall said he thought at the time his season was over.

“I thought it was over,” Marshall said. “I thought I’d be fishing in my backyard in Florida.”

His coach was on board with the diagnosis as well.

“I thought he was down for the count,” Todd Bowles said.

Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick called it “very scary.”

Can’t blame any of them. You see that knee angle above and you should probably wince. Marshall would actually return to the game after just a few plays and eventually be diagnosed with just a knee sprain.

It’s a massive break for a Jets team that’s looked strong on offense so far this year and could very well be 2-0 if not for a close home loss against the Bengals.
