The NCAA has ruled Texas A&M freshman J.J. Caldwell ineligible for this season, a source told CBS Sports on Friday night.

An official announcement is expected soon.

Caldwell is a 5-foot-11 point guard from Cypress, Texas who was ranked as the No. 65 prospect in the Class of 2016, according to 247Sports. He’s one of three four-star prospects in a Texas A&M recruiting class that ranked 18th nationally, according to 247Sports.

Texas A&M finished 28-9 last season.

Caldwell is expected to remain enrolled at Texas A&M.
