Ohio State had all the momentum in a 14-0 game over Oklahoma. Then, suddenly, Sooners running back Joe Mixon stole it back with a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Except that touchdown shouldn’t have counted. A slowed down version of Mixon’s return shows he dropped the ball in celebration before crossing the goal line.

Mixon got away with one without a doubt. That easily could have been a touchback for the Buckeyes.

That players still, to this day, do not keep the ball secured before crossing the goal line on plays like this is astounding. And this specific offense comes just one week after Clemson wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud got hosed pulling a DeSean Jackson.

A national crisis, indeed.
