This weekend couldn’t be going much better for the Red Sox.
Boston has won the first three games of their four-game series against the rival Yankees, including one on Hanley Ramirez‘s dramatic walk-off home run Thursday night. The Red Sox have opened a three-game lead in the AL East with 14 games to play.
The BoSox will look to complete the sweep Sunday night, but first, David Ortiz stopped by Gillette Stadium to serve as an honorary captain for the New England Patriots. Here he is walking out onto the field:
That’s a custom No. 34 BIG PAPI jersey Ortiz is wearing. Here’s a better look:
Looks like Ortiz started out with a Tom Brady jersey before switching it up and putting on the Big Papi jersey. Putting your name on another team’s uniform is just weird, but I guess Ortiz could pull it off since he was an honorary captain. Plus he’s Big Papi.
By the way, the Patriots and Ortiz lost the coin toss:
With David Ortiz as an honorary captain, the Patriots lose the toss. Dolphins defer to second half.

A bad omen for Sunday night’s series finale against the Yankees? I wouldn’t sweat that one too much.
