For a while on Monday night, the Bears hung with the Eagles. And then, in a pace Chip Kelly would’ve been proud of, the Eagles pulled away. For that, they can thank their defense, which picked off Jay Cutler and recovered a Jeremy Langford fumble.

They can also thank Ryan Mathews, who scored two touchdowns in the second half. His first featured an incredible second effort.

His second touchdown was easy enough.

Sandwiching those two touchdown? A Carson Wentz touchdown pass near the goal line.

The Eagles have opened up a huge lead over the Bears and are about to be 2-0 with a rookie quarterback under center. Give it up for Doug Pederson. The two teams he’s beaten are both bad, but that’s not his fault.
