NEW YORK — Mets pitcher Steven Matz, who is recovering from a left shoulder inpingement, will not start Friday as originally scheduled. General manager Sandy Alderson announced Thursday that Matz experienced shoulder soreness following Wednesday’s bullpen session at Citi Field.

Matz is 9-8 with a 3.40 ERA. He has not pitched since Aug. 14. According to manager Terry Collins, Matz’s latest setback means he is unlikely to be part of the team’s postseason rotation.
