Maddie Miller

Season: Spring 2016

School: Pittsford Mendon

Sport: Lacrosse

Bio: A senior at Pittsford Mendon High School, Maddie helped lead the Pittsford Panthers’ Girl’s Lacrosse team to a third straight Sectional Title and an appearance in the New York State Final where the Panthers unfortunately fell to Christian Brothers Academy, 11-6. While a loss in the state championship is disappointing for Maddie, her contributions helped the Panthers reach that plateau for the second time in their program’s history. She piled up 80 total points throughout the 2016 campaign, on 58 goals and 22 assists and on top of being a First-team All-County selection and making the All-Tournament Team, she was named the Section V MVP for Class A. The accolades continue though, as she also participated in Tennis and Nordic Skiing during here five years of interscholastic athletics, earning nine varsity letters, making the All-County team twice and most recently being named Pittsford Mendon’s Female Academic Athlete. Her unwavering commitment goes beyond the lines of the playing surfaces of her three respective sports and into the classroom, where she boasts a 95 GPA. Maddie’s next challenge comes in the form of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where she’ll be tested both mentally and physically as she earns a degree, continues here lacrosse career and proudly defends our country. Congratulations to Maddie Miller on earning our Geico Student Athlete Award for the 2016 Spring sport’s season.

Season: Winter 2015-16

School: Victor High School

Sport: Hockey

Bio: Mitch is a talented sophomore from Victor’s sectional winning hockey team, which claimed it’s second consecutive title this February. In his third year on varsity for the Blue Devils, Mitch scored six regular season goals and piled up 16 total points, while contributing with six more points in the post season on a goal and five assists. Not only has Mitch helped the program reach tremendous heights out on the ice, but he’s also worked very hard off of it, exemplifying the true meaning of a student athlete. His 98.61 GPA helped him earn Section V’s Top Scholar honors this season, a recognition he also earned as a freshman. In his junior season next winter, Mitch will return as a captain for the first time in his career. When the Section V hockey season ends, Mitch keeps active, playing Lacrosse for the defending state champion Blue Devils and participating in travel hockey as part of the Rochester Monarchs AAA club. At school, he’s a member of the Key Club, considers math his favorite subject, and while he still has plenty of time to make a decision on a major in college, he may pursue engineering. Congratulations to Mitch on being named as our Geico Student Athlete Award recipient for the 2015-16 winter sport’s season, and thanks to his parents Christie and Todd, and siblings Pete and Grace for being part of his journey.
