Max Scherzer still has a long way to go to catch the likes of Pedro Martinez and Chris Sale, both of whom struck out 10 or more batters in eight consecutive starts, but Scherzer can reach the halfway point to that mark Friday night against the Mets at Citi Field. The man tasked with outdueling the Washington ace is Steven Matz, who will be making his second start of the season since coming off the disabled list.
